Prana Psychology Clinic is located inside The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, one of Abu Dhabi's most prestigious five-star addresses. Arcave transformed an empty 150-square-meter commercial shell into a fully licensed, DOH-compliant psychology clinic in just 10 weeks. The interior design prioritizes a calming reception space alongside highly private, acoustically sound consultation rooms built specifically for talk therapy.
While the architectural brief appeared straightforward—a quiet, private space for mental health practice with no surgical requirements—the execution was incredibly complex. The turnkey fit-out had to satisfy rigorous Department of Health (DOH) facility design standards, address a failed HVAC system inherited from the previous tenant, and adapt to the luxury hotel operator’s absolute ban on weekend construction noise.
The Challenge
Strict DOH compliance, a broken HVAC system, and a 4-day working week
Because Prana Psychology Clinic was a brand new healthcare facility, every room had to meet DOH requirements from scratch. This included integrating a dedicated medical waste room—a mandatory baseline regulation for all clinical licenses, even for non-invasive talk therapy practices. Furthermore, the unit required a complete AC system replacement to meet the strict ventilation and air quality standards mandated for healthcare spaces.
The greatest logistical hurdle came from building management. The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort enforced a firm rule to protect guest experiences: absolutely no construction noise Friday through Sunday. This effectively compressed the project into a grueling 4-day work week, demanding flawless coordination to meet the non-negotiable 10-week handover deadline.

Fast-tracked trade sequencing for a flawlessly licensed healthcare facility
To ensure first-time DOH inspection success, every finish was meticulously specified. From antibacterial and antifungal wall systems to the specialized HVAC replacement, the space was engineered for compliance. Security integration was also critical; the clinic's CCTV network was wired directly into the hotel's central security control point while simultaneously adhering to DOH patient privacy camera placement rules.
To overcome the massive schedule constraint of losing three site days every week, Arcave heavily increased crew sizes and micro-managed the trade sequencing. By ensuring no zone sat idle on the days work was permitted, the 150-square-meter clinic opened strictly on schedule. The result is a serene, fully DOH-compliant psychology practice delivered without disrupting a luxury hotel.
