NTT DATA Regional HQ Abu Dhabi

A full demolition and rebuild of NTT DATA's Abu Dhabi head office, from a dead AC system and a decade of wear to a fully renewed 270 square meter workplace in 12 weeks.

Full Demolition and Rebuild

12 Weeks

NTT DATA's regional Abu Dhabi HQ had run for 10 years in the same space: a boardroom, a meeting room, open plan workstations, private offices, a CEO room, and the usual staff kitchen and facilities behind them. A decade in, the AC had failed, noise carried across the whole floor, and the lighting no longer did the space any favors.

Arcave took the office down to a full demolition and rebuilt it from the ground up in 12 weeks, covering 270 square meters and 24 workstations. The interior design itself was never the hard part. The hard part was doing all of it against a company that runs on data, with a brand guideline thick enough to need its own read-through before a single line got drawn.

The Challenge

A dead AC system, a 170 page brand guideline, and staff working remote

The old office's AC system had failed outright, running at very low efficiency, alongside constant noise and poor lighting throughout the floor. None of it was fixable with a patch job. Everything, from ducting to ceiling to flooring, needed to come out and go back in new.

NTT DATA's global brand guideline ran past 170 pages, and every material, color, and layout decision had to be checked against it before design work could start. With the move-in date only 12 weeks out, staff had to work remote for the full renovation, since there was no way to keep the office running mid demolition.

Arcave's Solution

A complete AC replacement, real acoustic treatment, and cabling that could not fail

The old FCU units and ductwork were fully replaced rather than patched, since patch repairs on a system already this far gone tend to fail again within months. Structured Cat6a cabling and server connections were installed to the standard a data-driven company actually needs, with zero room for compromise there.

Soundproofing came under budget pressure partway through, and rather than cut it, the team used suspended acoustic panels over the noisiest workstation clusters, rockwool insulation, and full ceiling void separation between private offices and the boardroom, delivering real acoustic performance without blowing past the budget. The office reopened at 270 square meters and 24 workstations, fully renewed, in 12 weeks.

Project FAQ

Common questions.

Can employees keep working in an office during a full demolition and rebuild?
No, not for a full strip out and rebuild. Structured cabling, ceiling, flooring, and AC all get removed and replaced at the same time, so staff typically move to remote work or a temporary business center for the duration of the project.
Why does a corporate IT office need Cat6a cabling instead of standard cabling?
For a company whose core business runs on data and server connections, cabling is not a place to save cost. Cat6a supports higher bandwidth and better shielding against interference than older standards, and a poorly cabled office becomes a daily bottleneck the moment staff move back in.
How do you soundproof an open-plan office without breaking the budget?
Suspended acoustic panels above the noisiest workstation clusters, combined with rockwool insulation and full separation above the ceiling void between private offices and the boardroom, deliver most of the acoustic benefit of a full acoustic fit-out at a fraction of the cost.
Do multinational corporate clients require their own design approval process?
Often yes. Large corporates frequently maintain global brand and design guidelines running to well over a hundred pages, covering colors, materials, and signage, and every design decision has to be checked against that document before drawings are even started.
